Top Rated Robot Vacuums
A robot vacuum can keep the floors clean enough to cut down on the frequency you need to manually vacuum. Select a vacuum with good navigation, has the ability to clean corners and stairs, and that has a large bin that needs to be emptying every so often.
There are models that can mop and charge on their own This feature could be important for people with pets or children. Many of the top performers in our tests offer decent obstacle-avoiding capabilities.
1. iRobot Roomba i3+ EVO
The i3+ EVO is similar to its sibling the i3 EVO. They differ only in the fact that the i3+ has self-emptying capabilities. That makes the i3+ a good option for those looking for an entirely automated, hands-free cleaning experience but don't mind having to empty their dust bin manually when it is full.
Both robots are adept at picking up surface debris on hard floors and carpets, and they are very good at maneuvering around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates smart maps of your home that aid the i3+ in its navigation and clean up efficiently. However unlike the i7+ or other top rated robots we tested, the i3+ doesn't have any obstacle-avoidance features which means it can get stuck on things like power cords or socks, and may have issues in navigating through transitions between surfaces like from hardwood to carpet.
iRobot suggests cleaning the area in which the i3+ EVO vacuums prior to using it. This includes putting away any toys or other items it may encounter. Also, keep the dustbin and filters clean to prevent them from getting blocked. If the i3+ EVO's internal bin is full or its battery is low it goes back to its docking station and automatically emptying its debris into the station's external dustbin and then resumes cleaning the area where it started. The i3+ EVO's battery lasts for approximately an hour and a half continuous use. auto vacuum takes about three hours to fully recharge.
2. IRobot Roomba i7+
The iRobot i7+ is a top model from iRobot’s flagship line and comes with the most recent features. It's self-charging and self-navigating. However, the most important feature is the self-emptying bin. This will eliminate the need for routine maintenance.
The Roomba i7+ can keep up to 10 floor plans and their names with Imprint Smart Mapping, an application that lets it identify rooms to clean them more efficiently. It also integrates with iRobot Home to schedule cleaning tasks, and it can control your robot through the app or via voice.
In our testing the i7+ was faster and more maneuverable than our runner-up which was the eufy RoboVac G30, and it picked up large pieces of pet hair from all surface kinds including carpeting. The biggest benefit over the eufy the dust bin is self-emptying that eliminates a major source of maintenance and reduces recurring costs.
We were also awestruck by the i7+'s compatibility Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services, which we used to instruct the robot to begin, stop or pause its cleaning sessions and move around the room, and even vacuum the area. The process of connecting the i7+ to these services was simple and straightforward through the iRobot Home app. We were able, once connected, to speak commands to the i7+, such as "Hey Alexa vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home App also offers options to manage i7+ settings and monitoring performance.
3. Dyson Cyclone V10
This tiny Dyson model is a sports car in a world of vacuums with cords that feel like minivans and buses. It has the power and features to replace a stand-up vacuum in many households, but it also fits nicely on the table for a coffee or the bookshelf, where you can move it around like a magic wand.
The V10 is powered by a 7-cell energy-dense Lithium-ion battery that produces power that is not fading for 60 minutes. The advanced whole-machine filter system traps allergens, then releases cleaner air into your home. Its cleaning head is specially designed and drives bristles of nylon that are stiff and deep into carpets to trap large particles and fine dust. It comes with three suction modes to meet the task at hand. It quickly switches from handheld to floor vacuum and back.
The model comes with a dock which charges the Dyson to 100% in 3.5 hours. It also gives the ability to connect two attachments as well as the wand. This is a huge improvement over previous Dysons that require a lengthy charge and are difficult to store.
The biggest issue with the V10 is its sluggish run time. As CR's tests show, its marketing claims of up to 60 minutes are misleading. This is an average not an extraordinary run time for the battery-powered cordless vacuum. This is enough time to clean a typical-sized home however, it's not enough time to reach every area. (A second time usually works). This model has its own advantages however: it's light and more mobile than previous Dysons cordless models and its ability to vacuum is significantly better on carpets with low pile.
4. iRobot Roomba 694"
The 694 is a basic robot vacuum that's a great option for those who don't have a lot of money to spend on an expensive robot. It's capable of sucking up all types of debris and sizes during our testing, and it often goes over the same areas many times to get a really thorough clean. Its flat front side helps it reach into corners and along the walls' edges which is a nice feature.
Its navigation system is smart and uses iAdapt to stay clear of obstacles and navigate your home, but it's not equipped with the mapping capabilities of more sophisticated models such as our top picks and the i3+ EVO and j7+ series. It can get stuck on cords for phones or furniture that is low and is often unable to supply power before returning to its base.
The Xiaomi Mi robot is superior in many ways to the Roomba 694, as it has less parts that require regular cleaning, is outfitted with an allergen-trapping HEPA filtering system, has a lower costs for recurring expenses and is more sophisticated in its automation capabilities and is better able to move its own. It also has a larger dustbin and can charge faster.
The RoboVac X8 is a slick RoboVac X8 is superior to the Roomba 694 for a variety of purposes, because it has a longer battery life, has the ability to alter the suction power mode by hand and comes with physical boundary strips, and can be controlled by your smartphone's voice assistant. It is also more robust, has a larger motor, and performs better on low-pile and bare floors.

In our tests during our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ performed well on hard floors, and it cleaned up 86% of dog hair (on carpet). It was not as successful in avoiding taller items like socks or cords. This was disappointing. It's also more expensive than some of the other models we've tested and could be a deterrent for certain shoppers.

The smart vacuum has an onboard camera that is accessible via the app. auto vacuum cleaner can also set up a live stream from the robot's cleaning station. This feature lets you to check in on your children or pets when you're away. The filter and the dust bin are washable for quick, easy cleanup. The app allows you to steer the robot manually in the event of need. For example my living room rug has a darkly colored border that can make it difficult for other robots I've tried. However the HRV 425BL continued to move across the border, but it didn't register it as a cliff. Also, the ability to create the weekly cleaning schedule is a great time-saving convenience.
